How to Become a TABC Agent
- 1). Graduate high school or obtain a GED under Texas state law. Presumably, you will do this before your 21st birthday, which is the minimum age for applying to be a TABC agent.
- 2). Obtain a degree from an accredited four-year college or complete comparable experience in the U.S military.
- 3). Obtain a Basic Peace Officer Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE).
- 4). Be in good physical condition and prepare yourself to demonstrate your ability to meet the physical-fitness requirements specified on the TABC webpage "Accept the Challenge" (see Reference below).
- 5). Review your credit history and employment and driving records as these aspects of your life will be investigated as part of a background check. Even if there are aspects of your background that are negative or noteworthy, it is better to accurately state these issues up front rather than have the TABC learn about them for the first time through a background check.
