Some Points on How to Choose Your Driver

103 33
Most golfers want to start their game in an impressive manner and this usually means taking a driver on the first shot and definitely on most par fours and fives.
This is to ensure that they get as far down the fairway as they can.
A driver can be an intimidating club for a golfer of any level and in particular for a beginner golfer so it is important to select the right club for the level.
Both beginners and intermediate golfers should choose a driver with a large head because this will mean that the club has a larger sweet spot.
A larger sweet spot means that a less than perfect shot will still ensure that the balls lands in the fairway.
More experienced golfers might not need as large a head to get the most out of their drive but a larger head is always an advantage.
Before purchasing a driver it is important to check the loft.
Most drivers these days have a loft that is a little more than 10 degrees and it is this point that helps to get the ball into the air faster.
The next thing to address is the swing.
A golfer with a hard swing should be able to generate much more distance with a larger head.
A steel shafted driver will also benefit by keeping the ball straight.
Less experienced golfers should select a graphite shaft.
A graphite shaft will be a little more whippy and will give more distance off the tee.
It does not, however provide the same accuracy.
It is always a good idea before selecting a driver that the golfer go to the range and find out which club suits him best.
The local pro should be readily available to discuss different types and models.
He should have a selection of drivers to try and then be able to advise you on which one suits your game best.
It is important that the golfer go with the club that he feels most comfortable with.
Even if you like the way a driver looks on the shelf you might be uncomfortable swinging it.
On the other hand a driver might not look as attractive as you would like but feel wonderful to swing.
The golfer should go with the one that feels the best.
It is important that the golfer select the club that best suits their game.
A big hitter who gets plenty of distance but not accuracy may choose a steel-shafted club, but a golfer who needs more distance should look for the whippiness that a graphite driver will provide.
A point to remember is that you should never buy the most expensive driver.
Always select the driver that feels the most comfortable.
