Miami Beach Packed With Sunbathers, circa 1940
On the sands of Miami Beach's Lummus Park, no clue is visible that a nation and the world were just emerging from the worst depression in history. Looking north from the Shoreham-Norman Hotel on February 10, 1940, it is evident that everybody who could afford to escape the brutal northern winters would, if they were able, come to Miami Beach.
