Risk Factors and Concerns - Lowering Female Hair Line Through Hair Transplant

103 14
As one of our patients was looking into hair transplant surgery to lower her hairline, a few concerns arose.
Her concerns were very similar to those most women with hair loss or female pattern baldness generally consider.
"...
how do I know if I'm a good hair transplant candidate?" "Is there any possibility that hair will fall off or ...
(affect) my regular hair to fall off?" "Do I have to stay at home after the surgery?" "Is there any bad effect of this kind of surgery on any area of my body or health?" The most common issue women with female pattern baldness or hair loss have is there is significant miniaturization of the hair shafts.
This factor makes the patient an unlikely candidate for hair restoration.
In regards to lowering the hair line for either men or women, as long as the donor hair has not been affected by male or female pattern baldness (signs of miniaturization or hair thinning), hair restoration is possible.
Hair transplant surgery is a permanent surgical option for eligible candidates.
For patients with significant hair thinning or pattern baldness, it may be possible to experience some degree of shock loss or loss of native hair but some patients with some degree of miniaturization may not experience this effect.
Recovery time is about the same for most patients and the procedure should not interfere with your daily tasks.
We make sure to provide our patients with specific medications to speed up the healing process and control the most common side effects like swelling and redness in the recipient area.
As for concealing the surgery, it can be easily done by simply changing your hair style a bit or any form of cover up (hat, bandanna, makeup, etc.
) Fortunately, hair transplant surgery does not have any adverse effect on the rest of the body.
On the side of some temporary swelling and redness, the only cause for concern is the medications used during and after surgery.
If you have any type of allergy caused by certain medications, we highly suggest informing your hair transplant surgeon prior to the surgery.
The same goes with food allergies as many offices provide a complimentary lunch.
Other than that, hair transplant surgery is a very minimally invasive procedure and any negative effects to the body are considered unlikely.
