How to Enhance Buffer Speeds
- 1). Turn off any programs that consume large amounts of bandwidth, such as file sharing programs, especially those that are focused on uploading content to other users. Uploading content significantly impacts your downloading, surfing and buffering or streaming speeds.
- 2). Turn off any other devices that consume bandwidth, such as gaming consoles, and limit network access. Your Internet connection speed is limited and shared between all members of the household on the connection. If someone else is downloading, uploading or playing games, your buffer speed will suffer.
- 3). Clear your temporary files. The buffered video needs to be temporarily stored to play smoothly and if it doesn't have adequate space, your experience suffers. If using Mozilla Firefox, click the "Firefox" button, then select "History" and choose "Clear Recent History" to eliminate temporary files. In Internet Explorer, click "Tools," then select "Internet Options" and press "Delete" under browsing history.
- 1). Click "Start," then select "Control Panel."
- 2). Select "System," then "Settings."
- 3). Select "Advanced," then the "Troubleshooting" tab.
- 4). Drag your slider all the way to the left to completely disable hardware acceleration. This is a setting that applies to all computers, regardless of the browser you use.
