West made this fake head, to place in his bed, in anticipation of the 1962 escape. He, together with the Anglin Brothers and Frank Morris, planned the escape. However, West did not make it out of his cell in time. The head was carefully constructed of cotton sheeting, soap, paint, and human hair.
