An Insight Into How the Kenwood Dnx6960 GPS Works

We all take satellite navigation for granted these days. It has become a major factor in the way we travel. Whether it's by road, driving your car, aeroplanes that we take to go on holiday, or maybe fishing on boats. They all use satellite navigation these days, getting to your destination in your car is very easy, with this
technology. Planes use them to navigate the globe, and also use them for auto pilot. Boats use them to get from one port to another, and fishermen use them to locate schoals of fish so they can cast their nets in a prime fishing location. You even have hand held nav systems, for hikers and ramblers. And if that's not enough, golfers are using them to find out how far away from the hole they are on any given shot.
But how exactly do they work? Well it works on a series of satellites that orbit the earth. These satellites are in low earth orbit, which means that they can only cover a small area of the earth. But there are twenty four of them, circling the earth in six different orbiting patterns. This satellite constellation, as it is
called, has all the satellites syncronized with each other, this enables coverage of the entire earth. The receiver in your sat nav, whether it's in your car, phone or any other device, picks up signals that the satellites are sending out, and by calculating the longtitude and latitude give you your exact location.
The longtitude and latitude are laid over maps that are built into the receiver, that's how the car navigation can direct you to your destination. The software that is incorporated into the navigation systems, is getting more and more advanced. Not only can these things show you directions, but they can speak the directions, allowing you to keep your eyes on the road ahead. Some software can decide which is the most fuel efficient route to take by calculating average road speeds, and also if there is any traffic problems on the route that it programed for you. These are all features that are incorporated into the Kenwood dnx6960 in-dash navigation and entertainment double din receiver.
So the next time you get in your car and turn on your sat nav, you may want to think about where the signals are coming from.
