Their Space

103 36
The problem withMy space is it really isn't your space , it's their space and if they don't like what you write to your friends they will wipe your profile from existence.
Now Iam not talking about vulgarities or annoying spam, just plain conversation that two people may have with one another, maybe even a disagreement.
I thought freedom of the press was alive on the internet but apparently it has died.
I refuse to put my name to this article because I am sure my two existing profiles will be obliterated if any My space censors have a clue who wrote this piece.
This all began a month ago.
I was being bothered by a so called "friend" I had made from My space.
He wrote every few days for about three months pestering me and I really asked him politely to leave me alone.
He persisted to annoy me and I should have blocked him but instead I finally fired back in one final letter calling him a Colombian refugee who doesn't understand the ways ofAmerica.
I was just stating the truth.
The kid was from Colombia and he had only been in this country a very short time.
He had this idea that some wealthy individual would take care of him and I guess he may have thought that individual would be me.
In the same letter I also used a Spanish word "Chusma" which means low class.
All the things I said were true.
Unfortunately I didn't expect the kid to report me to My space, which he did and my account was deleted.
Now I respected My space's decision and went on managing my two other profiles.
One day I was reading my emails and a My space member called me a "fag" I thought this was derogatory so I reported the user to My space twice , yet their profile wasn't deleted.
Where is the justice in all this, I ask myself? I guess big brother has the final power to who stays and who goes.
To make the matter even more egregious, there is no arguing with this entity.
What they decide is the law, you have no rebuttal.
Now in a world where press is free, two people communicating about a disagreement should not be open to censorship unless it is a flagrant use of racism.
I didn't feel my letter to this individual was racist in content.
Maybe I am wrong? I'll let my public be a judge of that.
The problem with My space is they have grown so big they really don't care about their individual members but they do care about their advertising revenue.
That is sad.
Their members made this online community what it is today.
The company should have some loyalty to the public but there is none..
Unfortunately My space is also the premier networking site on the net so if you want to have your space there, you better play by their rules.
There is no getting around it.
You can't write them arguing your case because they don't respond and you can't call them because there is no number to call.
So let this article be a warning, play by their rules or take a hike.
Its disappointing that success has come down to this.
What was once a beautiful creation in my mind is nothing but a powerful commercial venture turned sour.
If there was another venue without the censorship, Id be there, but for now I am resigned to using what is available.
