How to Clean Vitreous Floor Tile
- 1). Wipe up spills right after they happen. If the spill is something like chicken that can leave behind a bacteria, use a tile floor cleaner that will kill the bacteria, wiping it up with a rag.
- 2). Sweep the floor with a soft-bristled broom at least once a day. Dirt and debris will scratch the floor as it gets walked on or something gets placed on top of it. The floor will remain cleaner, scratch-free and last longer if it is swept every day.
- 3). Damp-mop once a week. Use a mop that can be rung out to be only damp. All you need is a bucket of warm water to clean the floor. You shouldn't use chemical cleaners unless absolutely necessary. Make sure you don't leave puddles of water anywhere on the floor.
- 4). Seal the tile once a year. Use a tile sealer once a year to keep water from absorbing into it at all. The sealer will wear off, so a yearly treatment is necessary. It can by placed on the floor with a mop or rags.
