    • 1). Turn off the power to the dryer outlet at the main circuit breaker panel. The breaker for the dryer outlet will be a double-pole 220-volt breaker. Refer to the circuit breakers labeled layout in the cover door on the panel.

    • 2). Locate the outlet for the dryer. Determine if the outlet is a three- or four-slotted outlet based on the number of holes for the prongs from the plug to slide into. Purchase a dryer plug from your local hardware store to match the number of slots on the outlet, either a three- or four-prong cord.

    • 3). Remove the panel on the rear of the dryer to access the power block where the power cord is connected. Use the screwdriver to remove the screws and panel and set them aside for later re-assembly. The access panel will be next to where the power cord enters the rear of the dryer.

    • 4). Attach the power cord to the power block on the dryer. The power block will have a set of three to four screws and will be labeled to help indicate that it is where the dryer cord is connected.

If you are attaching a three-prong cord: attach the the red and black wires to the two outside screws, and the white wire to the center screw. Tighten the screws down onto the wires.

If you are attaching a four-prong cord: remove the ground strap that is connected to the center screw on the power block and the green grounding screw on the frame of the dryer next to the power block. Use the screwdriver to remove it. Attach the black and red wires to the two outside screws, the white wire to the center screw, and the green wire to the green screw on the dryer's frame.

    • 5). Place the access panel back in place and insert a screw into each hole and tighten them down.

    • 6). Line up the prongs on the dryer plug with the outlet and insert or press the plug into the outlet.

    • 7). Turn the dryer's circuit breaker back to the on position. Turn on the dryer and test for operation.
