It has often been said that God is love.
One way to understand this is by realizing that the Universal Spirit is engaged at all times in looking after the welfare of all life in the universe.
The Universal Intelligence arranges food, air and sunshine for all life forms from the tiniest bacteria to the largest of creatures that inhabit the universe.
True, there is suffering too in life, but if we view this in its proper perspective i.
e as a source of learning that helps us to evolve to better and better states then we may realize that our sufferings too are an act of love by the Universal Spirit.
If we realize that our present life is just one in a series of near infinite lives that take us in the main to greater and greater levels of evolution then our present difficulties and concerns will appear as relatively minor problems.
Recognizing and responding to the love of the eternal spirit can only enhance the endless flow of love that we receive continuously from the universe.
The way to respond is by developing a loving spirit for all of creation.
Extending a helping hand to a needy spirit whenever it is possible or within our abilities to do so is a part of expressing this love.
Caring for our planet so that it remains a fit and beautiful place for all life to prosper is a part of this love too.
One may inquire as to how one can help.
Just planting a few trees every year helps to improve the environment.
A tree can provide food for many life forms and surplus wood for furniture and fuel.
It absorbs carbon dioxide, the greenhouse gas, returning life-giving oxygen in its place.
Thus trees help reduce global warming.
You may find a convenient place in or near your home where you can plant a tree.
Even if one lives in an apartment in a crowded city one can develop tree saplings from seed in a flowerpot.
A young tree looks great indoors in a flowerpot.
After a year or so you may find an opportunity to transfer it to a park, garden or countryside.
Planting a tree is an act of love and gratitude for Nature.
It is also a very religious thing to do, whatever be our religion especially in these modern times when the forests on our planets are vanishing fast, and global warming is threatening the planet.
