How to Remove Spray Paint From the Carpet
- 1). Blot up as much of the spray paint as possible. Fold up several paper towels to form a thick layer. Carefully dab at the spray paint stain, switching to clean stacks of paper towels as one becomes soiled. Blot from the outside of the stain towards the center to avoid spreading the paint. Continue blotting until no more spray paint transfers from the carpet to the paper towels.
- 2). Saturate the stained carpet with a lubricating spray such as WD-40. Apply a liberal amount of the solution to the carpet. Allow the spray to remain on the carpet for about 20 minutes.
- 3). Rub the spray paint stain carefully with a clean, white rag. Rub briskly and switch to clean portions of the rag as one area becomes soiled.
- 4). Fill a bowl with warm water. Add a few drops of bleach-free dish soap to the bowl.
- 5). Dip a clean rag into the bowl of soapy water. Blot the stain with the soapy water to remove any residue from the lubricating spray as well as the spray paint. Soak up excess moisture from the carpet with a dry rag.
- 6). Pour club soda over the spray paint stain if it persists. Sprinkle a generous coating of table salt on top of the club soda.
- 7). Allow the club soda and salt to sit on the carpet for a few minutes. Dab at the stain with a clean rag. Follow up by cleaning the area with the soapy water and drying the carpet with a dry rag.
