How to Get Rid of Cockroaches in Dorm Rooms
- 1). Make your dorm room less appealing to roaches. Keep any food that you have in your room in sealed containers. Do not leave uneaten food lying around. Rinse any disposable plates or bowls before discarding them. Keep your floors and surfaces free of food debris. Take your trash out daily.
- 2). Look for cracks or holes along the baseboards and window moldings of your room. Ask your resident adviser to have the cracks filled, or do it yourself using interior wall caulking or caulk strips.
- 3). Install a door draft guard or sweep under your door (if there is a gap between the bottom of the door and the floor) to keep roaches from being able to enter through the doorway.
- 4). Place roach bait traps in corners and under furniture. Sprinkle boric acid or diatomaceous earth (which are nontoxic to humans) along the edges of your wall or anyplace you have seen roaches in your room.
- 5). Request that your room be fumigated by a pest control professional if the problem does not go away.
