How Can a Business Create a Pre-Deployment Plan?
- Creating a successful pre-deployment plan requires careful planning. First, a company must prepare a "case" for implementing the new technology. Then, they must evaluate the current system to determine whether personnel and existing equipment can easily use the new technology. The company must also create a detailed plan to address any areas that could benefit from the new technology.
- Pre-deployment plans must be highly specific in outlining goals, outcomes and responsibilities. If computers need hardware upgrades, pre-deployment plans must identify which computers need upgrades, what items are needed, who will install the upgrades and when the work must be completed. If staff training is needed, a pre-deployment plan must identify the trainers, what training covers, who pays for the training and how the company plans to follow-up, to determine if training goals were met.
- Company representatives and technology vendors must have input in the pre-deployment plan. One person should be assigned to compile leadership's ideas into a unified document. Each stakeholder must have an opportunity to review the pre-deployment plan and provide feedback. A good pre-deployment plan must allow a company to take full advantage of new technological upgrades.
