How to Fix an iPod Touch That Won't Turn on After the Apple Logo
- 1). Disconnect the iPod Touch from the USB cable, while leaving the cable connected to the computer.
- 2). Turn off the iPod Touch by holding down the "Sleep/Wake" button for two or three seconds. The red slider will appear on the screen.
- 3). Slide the red slider on the display. The iPod Touch will turn off after a second or two. If this does not work, hold down the "Sleep/Wake" and "Home" buttons simultaneously. Release the buttons when the screen turns black.
- 4). Press the "Home" button and keep pressing it as you connect the iPod Touch to the USB cable. The iPod Touch turns on.
- 5). Continue to hold down the "Home" button. The "Connect to iTunes" display will appear on the screen. Then take your finger off the "Home" button.
- 6). Launch iTunes if it is not open already. The Recovery Mode dialog box will appear, stating that you must restore the iPod Touch before you can use it with iTunes. Click "OK." This should restore the device to its factory settings. If this does not work, follow the instructions in the next Section beginning with Step 2.
- 1). Launch iTunes if it has not launched already while trying to restore the iPod Touch. Click the "OK" button in the Recovery Mode dialog box. If this doesn't work, continue with the remaining steps.
- 2). Check that your iPod Touch USB cable is connected to an active USB port directly in the computer. Do not, for example, use a USB port that belongs to a keyboard, extender cable, Firewire port, or other peripheral device.
- 3). Leave the iPod Touch connected to the USB cable for at least ten minutes if its battery power is low any time during the preceding Steps.
- 4). Follow all the Steps in "Restoring an iPod Touch," to try to restore the iPod Touch again. You may have to use these steps more than once to restore the device when it has frozen on the Apple logo screen.
