What"s Worth Living For As Christians?

103 33
We begin by fronting the question: "What's worth living for?" To Christians, people who have saddled themselves with the not-easy-to-match seriousness in their confessed faith, this question is more than just rhetorical.
It demands answers and provide them we must.
And to confront such realities, Christians can have no admissible excuses.
What's worth living for is what is worth your energy - physical and mental.
It's worth your blood, and in the extreme even your life.
Enough as an explanatory summary.
Have you, in your meditation, gone this far in this interpretative understanding of the enormous responsibility you have laid on your shoulders by agreeing to be Christians? It's no matter for the feeble-minded as it is no task for the one who is weak in limb; no less so for the brain and brawn.
Jesus Christ grew in this truth and revealed to Christians that there are certain principles that are worth living for, and by extension dying for.
Hence, it was not difficult for Him to find pleasure in doing the will of His father, God.
He discovered this almost by instinct.
And the energy He registered into this pursuit is only a fitting description for zealotry.
In consequence, and recognition, He got anointed.
He got His father's approval as an acknowledged well-behaved Son.
His reward? This led Him to fame and prominence in the society of His time, and till date.
Jesus Christ fell in love with selfless service to humanity.
This was His second principle.
He came to seek and save those individuals that were lost.
He lived for others.
For example, He refused His meals until a woman by the well got ministered to.
He revealed it to His disciples that those who would be great would be those who would first humble themselves to serve others.
What a high degree of humility! These two principles have led many to greatness.
Those who invest their lives' efforts in others and God's work have always ended up gaining much while losing nothing.
From His inner promptings, Jesus made the following great statements: 'I have come to do your will O Lord 'Except a seed fall to the ground and die it abides alone 'I am good shepherd...
the good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep' - John 10: 11.
Do you sincerely want to live a happy and fulfilled life? Do you seek to live as a child whose crafts are approved by God? Do you hanker after God's provision for your future life? Is it part of your wish for your life to overflow with satisfaction? Then, your unassailable task will be to invest your life in doing God's will.
Give your time and resources to seek regularly to bring joy and happiness to others.
For instance, Mary Selessor stopped the killing of twins in Nigeria.
Mother Theresa made indelible marks in the sand of times.
William Wilberforce, Martin Luther King and many more are living testimonies to the fact that those who live for the interest of others invariably turn out to be great men and women that history cannot forget in a hurry.
Therefore, we advise that as a Christian you get down to doing God's will and serve others for a fulfilled life if really you wish to remain permanently in the book of life.
