Kool-Aid Pouch Crafts for Kids

    Notebooks

    • Create a pocket-sized notebook for keeping track of school assignments and other important details. This is a good project for elementary school children because they need to use scissors and a hole punch and align the edges of the pages. Cut the pouch apart to separate the front and back, and then cut plain or lined paper pages to fit inside. Stack the juice pouch covers and pages, and punch holes along one side. Lace the book together using shoelaces, plastic string or yarn. To make this project even easier, glue the pouch pieces to the front and back of an existing notebook; just be sure to use a glue that is rated for use with plastic.

    Tote Bags

    • Use basic sewing techniques and a sewing machine to construct small tote bags and pencil cases from Kool-Aid pouches. Clean and dry the pouches. Then stitch them together to form a fabric. Once the fabric is complete, stitch it into a decorative tote or coin purse. You can use a commercial pattern or simply cut rectangles to the size you want the bag to be and add handles. This is an excellent project for a child who is learning to use the sewing machine, or who already knows how to sew and wants a new challenge.

    Duck Tape Decor

    • Use playful Duck Tape brand patterned duct tape and Kool-Aid pouches to decorate everything from furniture to accessories. Duct tape sticks to almost anything, so you can add a whimsical and fun touch to plastic or wood items that you already own, or make pieces designed to accent a kid's room or locker. Use the duct tape to mount one or more juice pouches on the item you want to decorate, then embellish with stickers, glitter and glue for a one of a kind accent.

    Considerations

    • Kool-Aid pouches should be clean and dry before you use them for crafts. The easiest way to clean the pouches is to slice the top off with a sharp knife or pair of scissors, then wash the pouch inside and out with hot soapy water. Let the pouch dry completely before using and do not attempt to speed the drying process with a hair dryer or other heat source. The pouches are made from plastic and could melt if exposed to high temperatures.
