How to Make Tall Knit Boots

    • 1). Cut one sleeve off of your old sweater. Turn the sleeve inside-out, and slide it onto one foot, cuff-side first.

    • 2). Turn the sweater sleeve so that the seam is going up the back of your leg. Put on your comfortable shoe, and stretch the sweater sleeve around the edge of the sole of your shoe.

    • 3). Grab the excess fabric that is left from the sweater sleeve, and pull it toward your heel. Continue stretching the sweater fabric toward the back of your leg until you have created a form fitting boot-shape.

    • 4). Pin the extra, gathered fabric together so that you will be able to easily trim it away. Cut the fabric away from the boot-shape, about 1/2-inch from the pins. Slide the sweater fabric carefully off of your foot.

    • 5). Repeat steps one through four for the other foot. Sew a seam across the pinned length of each piece of your sweater fabric. Remove the pins.

    • 6). Place one shoe inside each boot-shape, and line up the sole with the larger open end of the fabric. The top part of the shoe should be facing out, and the bottom part should be inside the sleeve of fabric.

    • 7). Arrange the sleeve of fabric so that its edge is one-inch over the upper part of the shoe. Lift the fabric, and in small sections starting at the back of the heel, begin hot-gluing the fabric to the shoe. Make sure that the upper part of the shoe is completely hidden by the sweater fabric.

    • 8). Wait 10 minutes for the glue to dry. Carefully turn each knit boot right side-out to reveal your new pair of tall, knit boots. Sew the buttons to your boots if you would like an extra bit of style.
