A boot camp for juveniles uses structure and discipline to address behavioral problems. The term boot camp comes from the system used by the military to indoctrinate new recruits. While there are no fully equipped boot camps in Maine, there are several therapeutic programs that use some of the principles of boot camps to help troubled teens gain the life skills they need to get back on track. - Ironwood, located in the coastal town of Morrill, was formerly a horse farm. Ironwood residents follow a strict program that includes exercise, healthy food, chores, and academics, in addition to group and individual therapy. Teens (both male and female) generally stay at Ironwood from six to nine months.
