How The FAA Is Creating Airport Chao"s
We all will need to have a good dose of patience the next time we go to the airport.
Most flights coming from Europe pass through the busy Northeast Corridor.
The NY metro airports such as Kennedy, LaGuardia & Newark are vital portal entry points into the U.
S for domestic & internetional flights.
But with all the problems with delays at major airports, the FAA is hindering the progress of airports even further by reassigning FAA engineers who oversee maintenance & upgrades at NY airports.
These engineers are being reassigned to Atlanta as part of a cost-cutting measure.
This will create further congestion at these three metro airports which already suffer more than their fare share of equipment breakdowns.
New York Senator Schumer has been on the FAA's heels for a while trying to get them to allocate more safety technology, & air traffic controllers.
Senator Schumer is a passionate advocate for improving aviation safety.
but the question is rather the government is listening.
For the last several years there have been alarm bells ringing in safety reports about a shortage of air traffic controllers, & aviation safety technology needed to upgrade airports for the high traffic demands of the future.
This has fallen short on expectations.
The FAA has been slow to implement a lot of these new technologies that will make air traffic controllers job more easier & efficient.
As a pilot myself, I see the mistakes often made by air traffic controllers because of lack of equipment.
I think what is really needed is consumer complaints to their local congressman to light some fire under the FAA's tires inorder to keep our nations airports safe.
