How to Compost Trash
- 1). Purchase a three-by-three compost bin, and choose an out of sight but convenient location for it. The bin must be placed directly on the ground.
- 2). Designate a place in your kitchen to gather items to compost. Ideal items include vegetable scraps, moldy bread, dinner leftovers or shredded paper. Keeping meat to a minimum can reduce smell. Use a plastic bag or covered container for storage.
- 3). Set aside any outdoor garbage for compost. This might include items like leaves or sawdust.
- 4). Dump your indoor items into the compost bin once you have collected a significant amount. Add an equal amount of outdoor items.
- 5). Harvest the compost and use for fertilizer after two years.
