How to Prune Red Tip Petunias
- 1). Pull the dead blossoms gently from the branches. Don't twist or yank, just pinch them back gently to avoid crushing the stem. This will help keep the plant looking and feeling healthy.
- 2). Find branches that have a lot of stems but only one blossom. Cut a few of the blossom-less stems back by 4 to 5 inches, scattering the cuts all over the plant. This will spread the new growth evenly about the plant.
- 3). Repeat steps 1 and 2 every day or every few days until the pruned sections begin to show new growth.
