Mexican Telenovela Star Lorena Rojas Dead at 44
Mexican telenovela star Lorena Rojas lost her battle with breast cancer on Monday, Feb. 16. She died at her home in Miami. She was 44.
Rojas was known for her work in the novelas El Cuerpo del Deseo, Pecados Ajenos, Alcanzar Una Estrella and her most recent project, the series Demente Criminal.
The news was announced by her talent agency LatinWE, which issued the following statement:
Lorena, who bravely defied the disease in different stages since 2008, gave her last breath peacefully in her home, surrounded by the love of her family members, her boyfriend and her closest friends.
Rojas was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008. Then in 2013, she received the news that the cancer had spread.
The novela star took to Twitter last week after celebrating her birthday. She wrote: "Thank you all for celebrating my birthday with me. Beautiful day."
The actress is survived by her daughter.
