How to Place the Drip Guard in the Rain Gutter
- 1). Purchase sheet-metal edging at a home improvement center. Buy drip guards in the same lengths as your rain gutters.
- 2). Lift the edges of the roofing shingles and slip the flat, wide flange portion of the guard directly under the shingles. Make sure the guard slightly extends past the gutter. This allows the water to fall easily into the gutter without damaging the fascia or shingles.
- 3). Apply a thin beading of roofing cement to the top of the inserted drip guard, then flatten the shingles down using your hand. Press firmly to secure the drip guard to the roof and seal the shingles.
