How to Change the BIOS Boot in Vista to Boot From an Installation CD
- 1). Check your computer manual to find out the key for entering the BIOS setup. Typically it is the "Del" or "F2" key.
- 2). Insert the installation CD into the computer's CD-ROM drive.
- 3). Click the orb-shaped "Start" button in Windows Vista.
- 4). Click on a small triangle in the right corner of the Start menu and choose "Restart" to reboot your computer.
- 5). Press the BIOS access key when the first text lines appear on your screen, to enter the BIOS setup. If you didn't learn the proper access key earlier, it will be named within those first text lines.
- 6). Go to the BIOS menu, usually called "Boot," using the arrow keys on your keyboard.
- 7). Select the "First boot device" under the "Boot" menu with the arrow keys, then press "Enter."
- 8). Select "CD-ROM" from the list, then press "Enter."
- 9). Press the "F10" key to save your changes and exit the BIOS setup. The computer will automatically restart and then will boot from the installation CD.
