How to Use a Second Cell Phone as a Switch on Two Service Providers
- 1). Contact your old cell phone provider. Tell the representative that you would like to cancel your account. You may have to pay a cancellation fee, especially if you are cancelling before your contract ends.
- 2). Contact your new cell phone provider. Set up an account with the representative. Ask the representative for a SIM card and IMEI number to access the network. Provide your cell phone's manufacturer and model number.
- 3). Insert the SIM card into your new phone. You may have to wait to receive this SIM card in the mail from your new cell phone provider. Remove the protective cover from the back of your phone.
- 4). Turn on your phone. Enter the IMEI code (when prompted) that came with your SIM card. Press the "OK-Menu" button. Your cell phone will now access the new provider's network. You should also receive a confirmation text message that you successfully activated your phone.
