How to Trim Shrubs With Pink Flowers
- 1). Wait for the shrubs to finish blooming before attempting to prune them. Trimming them after the flowers die allows time for the new wood to grow so they can bloom again well the next year.
- 2). Trim approximately one-third of the old canes with pruning shears all the way to the ground. This helps control the shape of the shrub and encourages new growth.
- 3). Cut excessively long branches that extend beyond the natural shape of the shrub. Do this one by one and cut it back to different lengths within the interior of the bush at buds or branch unions. This prevents the look of a buzz hair cut.
