How to Drain a Pool With a Hose

104 10
    • 1). Coil the hose up and submerge it in the water of the swimming pool. This will fill the hose up with water.

    • 2). Plug both ends when the hose is full of pool water. This is where a helper will come in handy, but if you don't have one, you can still do it on your own.

    • 3). Take one end and place it where you want the water to drain.

    • 4). Take the other end and holding the hose end up about waist high, unplug it. Place a funnel in the end and begin filling the hose with water. A funnel helps the water to go into the hose easier, but if you don't have one, no problem.

    • 5). Open the end that the water will run out of and let some water escape. This will replace the air in the hose. Plug the hose again.

    • 6). Pour more pool water in the hose. When the hose is full, remove the funnel. Placing your hand over the end of the hose put it back in the pool toward the bottom. Place a rock on the end to keep the hose from floating to the top, but make sure the rock is not heavy enough to crush the hose.

    • 7). Unplug both ends of the hose. Water should start to flow. If it doesn’t repeat steps 4 through 6 until the water flows.
