Creating a Hit Counter

• 1). Go to the website for StatCounter (see Resources), a free online counter that will be used in this example.
  
  
• 2). Click the "Register Now" button on the left menu.
  
  
• 3). Fill in the information under Account Details (it will not be shared with anyone). Accept the terms and conditions and click "Register My Account."
  
  
• 4). Select a time zone and click "Proceed & Add A Project."
  
  
• 5). Enter the information that is requested. The software includes options to customize the design and settings of your counter. Save the counter and/or the HTML for the counter. Copy and paste the HTML where you would like it displayed. It will work and update itself immediately.
