How to Compare Phone Sizes
- Phones have various depths. Some phones are very thin and can easily be carried in someone's pocket, while others are much thicker. Flip-up, slider and swivel phones, for instance, have larger depth dimensions because they have two layers. Single layered phones, such as touch-screen phones, are thinner.
- A phone's dimensions are related to its specifications. Phones that have superior multimedia features, such as the ability to play high-definition movies, may have larger-sized screens, which, thereby, add onto the phone's total dimensions. More basic phones are available in smaller sizes because they simply possess a keypad and a smaller screen.
- Not all phones are equal in weight. Even phones with identical specs can weigh different amounts. The weight of a phone is related to how heavy the battery and parts are.
- Many consumers choose to protect their phones by purchasing cases that fit around the phone. Plastic or leather cases will add to the weight and total size of the phone.
