105 9
The nation has already been bedazzled by Indias victory over other nations per se the homecoming of the Under 17 FIFA world Cup. One cannot thank Praful Patel enough for his endeavors in this regards. The article below tells you more about Indias achievements in the world of football and the efforts made by the AIFF committee, in helping the nation realize its dream of hosting FIFA's most prestigious event.

A cricket-crazy nation like India has never before hosted a football event of the highest order. One cannot thank AIFF President Praful Patel enough for reviving the lost glory of the sport in India. The FIFA team, that was on an inspection tour to India exclaimed that the nation has enough potential to host a scintillating football World Cup. However, there are a few things that need to be kept in mind, before jumping to a conclusion. It would also be interesting to see the changes that come-along, after this prestigious event is hosted in India. India never had courses like the Grassroots program that help in elevating the young football talent in the nation. The preparation of world-class football stadiums with the state of the art facilities. To add to the tally, Indias pact with the Australian football Federation (AFF) has been of much importance. After the signing of a MoU, Australia will be providing assistance to the Indian football in segments like training, administration and finance. Not to forget, this is the first step in an otherwise long journey towards developing a reputation of being serious about football. With India's domestic football league, I-League, failing to improve the standards of the game due to it being overshadowed by other sports, the FIFA under-17 World Cup can act as an impeccable platform to launch a campaign to host the FIFA World Cup in the foreseeable future.

However, we are still in the early days of development and it will take some time, before India finally gets everything right. Not to mention the fact that Praful Patel's contributions towards this path of progress will be of utmost importance. Patel with his AIFF team will have to ensure that all plans and blueprints are executed, for the betterment of the sport in India. It was in 2007, when FIFA President Sepp Blatter visited India as described the nation as a sleeping giant, in terms of football. Going by the look of it, it seems that our hardwork and perseverance towards football will certainly make Mr. Blatter swallow his own words. With a paramount certainty, it can be said that the giant has finally woken up and there seems to be no stopping at all. In the last few years, the Indian football has seen several vicissitudes. This finally seems to be India's tryst with glory, in terms of world football. Be it stroke of luck, or fortune, India's initial bid was directly rejected by FIFA. Praful Patel then came in stronger, defeating 4 other foreign nations in the race, to win the rights to host the Under 17 FIFA world Cup.

Undeniably, this is the break that the India football was primarily looking for; an opportunity to associate itself with one of the largest FIFA event. Not only would it improve the imminent quality of Indian football at hand, it would also play a major role in getting hardcore English Premier League and UEFA Champions League fans from India inclined towards following Indian football for a change. The likes of Sunil Chhetri and others have enough potential, to make it to the global platform. It is only the lack of a proper platform, which made India wait until date. AIFF President Praful Patel would be looking forward to capitalize on the start that it has received after winning the rights to host the FIFA event. After years of waiting for it, several eyes would be on Indian football and its stars reckoning and this time, it shall be worth the wait!
