The Future of Social Media Development - Common Thread or Scatter Attack

103 9
If you have watched social media tools expand over the last few years such as Facebook, Twitter, Meetup, Wayn, Google maps, tools you can bring together 2 trends that may be useful for human society.
In the case of Twitter you have people tweeting about their interests and commenting on each other and certain subjects or events.
It is when a group of people rally around a issue and then develop that issue online where we might call this a "Scatter Attack".
A simple example would be that of a concern an individual had with a subject, is it valid?, what is the person's knowledge, connection? Are others concerned around the same issue? Does this group have similar/different concerns.
Over time we begin to see hopefully(online) how the issue develops.
Regards some issues it may benefit society to have the internet to use to debate issues but how relevant or how involved or how safe this is will be of most importance.
As a net benefit when described and discussed in a humane manner individuals can form to what I may call a "Scatter Attack" to attack and resolve the issue at hand.
Doing so in terms of words and human dignity may sometimes lead to a better peaceful resolution and understanding of all angles of human perception but not always.
What do you think, is resolving and issue through Twitter, Facebook, Google a net benefit to society? The second trend seems to be a "Common Thread", thus people create groups with others they might not know around a common interest.
There are many examples of this through video games, online games, online charities, online causes and personal stories or hobbies that people gather around.
This "Common Thread" builds a group of people around a common interest whether for social pleasure, to share information or compare stories.
This gives us a greater group of minds to engage in a social group or common theme, one example is using the site meetup, you may find people you never have and of course there are numerous other groups online.
Do you think this is evolving society? Finally in conclusion, what about microblogging, now there are so many blogs how are we going to store all this information and how much is it going to expand, what will people think is more important to discuss in the future? What is you conclusion?
