How to Examine Driveline and CV Boots in a Chrysler Sebring

104 26
    • 1). Locate the driveline and CV boots on your Chrysler Sebring. The driveline refers to the hardware which goes into your wheel well. A portion of that hardware, the CV joint, is encapsulated by the CV boot. The CV boot not only keeps out elements of the road, but also keeps the joint well lubricated. By sliding under your Sebring near one of the wheel wells, you'll easily be able to locate the rubber boot and hardware.

    • 2). Wipe a clean rag along the CV boot and see if any excess lubricant comes off onto the rag. If so, then your CV boot needs to be replaced.

    • 3). Look at your CV boot to see if there is any cracking, chafing, splitting, slicing or dry-rotting of the rubber. If so, then the CV boot needs to be changed to preserve the CV joint.

    • 4). Check the driveline (which is the hardware going into the boot) to make sure that it isn't abnormally bent. This is a rare occurrence on your car, unless it's been in an accident or exceedingly tough driving conditions that have scraped the underside of your Chrysler Sebring.

    • 5). Complete this examination by inspecting the other three drivelines and CV boots for abnormal wear.
