Health benefits of a wet sauna When a sauna is used to generate wet heat it becomes hot and humid and creates an experience that many call a steam shock or a steam shower.
This added humidity changes the characteristics of the sauna and also the effects that it can have on the body.
Firstly, the increase in humidity produces deep cleansing of the skin by hydrating the skin and eliminating toxins.
This not only makes the skin feel good, but it can also fight the effects of aging and even reduce wrinkles.
Secondly, high humidity can be good for the respiration and many who suffer from asthma, a chesty cough, or a sore throat, find a wet sauna beneficial and relaxing.
The high humidity can also ease throat, nose and chest congestion and aid breathing.
