How to Tie the Gaucho Knot
- 1). Loop your strap around the cardboard tube once. Loop the strap around a second time. Bring the two ends of the strap around the back of the dowel. Slide one end of the strap through the loop and the other over it. You will use the end which lays above the loop to form the rest of your gaucho knot (Reference 1).
- 2). Slide the useful end of the strap beneath the other end within the hanging loops. Bring the strap over two strands at the front. Bring the strap around the back of the dowel and pass it beneath one strand then over two.
- 3). Bring the strap around to the front of the dowel and slide it beneath two strands and then over two strands. At the back slide the strap beneath two strands and over two strands.
- 4). Bring the strap around to the front of the dowel and slide it beneath one strand, then over two strands, then beneath two more strands. At the back slide the strap beneath one strand, then over two strands, then beneath two more strands.
- 5). Bring the strap to the front of the dowel and slide it beneath two strands, then over two strands, then beneath two more strands. At the back repeat the same process.
- 6). Bring the strap to the front of the dowel and slide it beneath one strand, then over two strands, then beneath two strands, then over two strands. At the back repeat this same pattern.
- 7). Bring the strap to the front of the dowel and slide it beneath two strands, then over two strands, then beneath two strands. At the back repeat the same pattern.
- 8). Bring the strap around to the front of the dowel. Slide the useful end up into the woven pattern alongside and facing the opposite direction of the static end of the strap. Use a drop of super glue or other long lasting adhesive to hold the ends and the knot in place (Reference 1).
