How to Clear Dark Spots on Your Skin
Things You'll Need
Instructions
1Apply juice from a citrus fruit onto the discolored area with a cotton ball or your finger. Most citrus fruits are effective, but lemons are considered the most beneficial. The juice from limes and oranges can also be used to lighten dark spots. Leave on the skin until it dries and rinse off.
2
Prepare a mixture of parsley juice, red currant juice, lemon or orange juice, and your favorite facial cream. Gently dab the mixture onto the dark spots. This mixture will help lighten the discolored areas, and is especially effective in lightening freckles. Be sure to use sparingly to avoid irritation.
3
Grate a medium-sized potato and apply onto the discolored area. Be sure that the juices evenly saturate the dark spots. Let the potato sit on the skin for about 10 minutes.
4
Dab on buttermilk or sour milk to the dark spots with a cotton ball or your finger. The lactic acid found in milk will gently peel away dead skin cells on the surface of the skin, leaving clean, clear skin. This remedy can safely be used on sensitive skin because lactic acid does not irritate skin.
5
Combine honey with buttermilk or sour milk to create a mixture with a thick consistency. Honey is beneficial because it promotes skin renewal and may also be applied onto the skin alone. Including wheat germ into the mixture may give greater lightening effects.
6
Prevent dark spots from developing due to excessive sun exposure by wearing a facial sunscreen every day. Make sure that your sunscreen is SPF 15 or higher. With regular use, sunscreen will help minimize the chances of developing skin cancer, and also protect against dry skin.
