How do I Change the Rubber Flapper in a Toilet Tank?
- 1). Turn off the water supply to the toilet at the shut-off valve below the toilet fixture. Flush the toilet to drain the water out of the tank.
- 2). Remove any remaining water in the toilet tank by soaking it up with a sponge. Locate the pins at the back of the rubber flapper. Pull the flapper ears back by hand to take them off the pins.
- 3). Disconnect the pull chain from the top of the rubber flapper. Take the old flapper out of the toilet tank. Place the new rubber flapper into position in the tank. Pull the ears back by hand and attach them to the pins.
- 4). Connect the pull chain to the top of the rubber flapper by hand. Turn the water supply on at the shut-off valve. Allow the toilet tank to fill with water.
