Michigan Motorcycle Training
- Basic and experienced rider courses are available. The basic rider course is required for riders between the ages of 15 and 18, or riders who have failed the skills test twice, and is recommended for new riders with little experience. The experienced rider course is for riders looking to improve their skills or looking for the motorcycle endorsement on their driver's license.
- Michigan offers both public and private motorcycle training. As of 2010, the public training sites offer basic and experienced rider motorcycle classes for $25. Private training fees vary by location.
- The basic rider course takes about 15 hours to complete and provides both classroom and riding experience. Motorcycles are provided. Riders can complete the experienced rider course in a half day and will improve skills, in addition to possibly reducing their insurance rates upon graduation.
- According to the Michigan Department of State, more than 15,000 students per year enroll in the Michigan motorcycle training courses between April and September.
