Historic Annapolis, a Great Place to Live!
Allison Bourg, staff writer for the Annapolis Capital, calls Annapolis her home. She has lived in Annapolis for a short time, but has worked in the city for a few years. Although she isn't native to Annapolis, she plans on staying there for a while.
€Annapolis is great for day trips,€ Bourg said, and she is right. Besides Annapolis being close to Washington D.C. and Baltimore, it's also close to the Chesapeake Bay and Philadelphia.
Annapolis is the oldest incorporated city in Maryland and one of the oldest in the United States. The beautiful city welcomes more than four million people each year. Annapolis has plenty of history to offer residents and visitors. The Naval Academy is in historic Annapolis. It was founded in 1845 and is an important part of the culture. The Maryland State House is the oldest in incessant legislative use in the United States and Maryland legislature first met there in 1779. It is topped by the largest wooden dome built without nails in the country. Also, the Treaty of Paris was endorsed in Annapolis on January 14, 1784, so Annapolis became the first peacetime capital of the United States!
With a population around 35,000, Annapolis is a great city to live. €I really like it,€ Bourg said. €It's a small town with a small town atmosphere.€
There are plenty of activities to take part in while living in Annapolis. It is known for sailing, the Chesapeake Bay, history, culture, and great food, including crabs! Bourg suggests eating at Fed House, Rockfish, and Lemon Grass. These are just a few of the great eateries in Annapolis.
Bourg recommends going to the State House, St. Michaels, shopping, and taking one of the many boat tours. €It's such a historic city,€ she said.
With all of the history and culture Annapolis has to offer tourists and residents, education is easy learning in the city! People of Annapolis are welcoming and friendly Bourg said. Who wouldn't want to live in fantastic Annapolis? It's a great place to reside and raise a family. You may go for a vacation or day trip, but decide to stay live there!
