Painted Bottle

• 1). Clean and soak your Jim Beam bottles in warm, soapy water for about 10 minutes. Rinse the bottle thoroughly, scraping off the labels and adhesive as you go. The bottle should be totally smooth and free of label residue.
  
  
• 2). Dry the bottle and wipe it down with a soft cloth and rubbing alcohol. This removes any oil or soap residue that may prevent your paint from sticking.
  
  
• 3). Paint your bottle. Either paint the bottle one solid color or create a design. Polka dots, stripes, stars and flowers work well for novices. Experienced painters can go with tree branches, animals or entire scenes. Allow the paint to dry overnight.
  
  
• 4). Bake your bottle at about 250-degrees Fahrenheit for about 30 minutes or follow the directions on your glass paint container. This should make your bottle dishwasher safe.
  
  

Etched Bottle

• 1). Clean and soak your Jim Beam bottles in warm, soapy water for about 10 minutes. Rinse the bottle thoroughly, scraping off the labels and adhesive as you go. The bottle should be totally smooth and free of label residue.
  
  
• 2). Dry the bottle and wipe it down with a soft cloth and rubbing alcohol. This removes any oil or soap residue that may prevent your etching cream from penetrating the glass.
  
  
• 3). Sketch any design you like onto a white label sticker. Sketch words, a scrollwork border design or a special symbol. Cut the design out with a utility knife, creating a sticker stencil.
  
  
• 4). Peel of your sticker stencil backing and smooth the stencil carefully onto your bottle. Make sure the sticker is totally flush to the glass, otherwise you will get etching cream where you do not want it.
  
  
• 5). Smear a thick layer of etching cream onto the stencil using rubber gloves. Clean the gloves right away. Allow the etching cream to work for about 20 minutes. Wipe the etching cream away with a soft cloth. Rinse your bottle thoroughly. There will be a frosted effect where the cream touched the bottle.
