Wedding Traditions - Something Old, Something New
Something old represents continuity of the past moving to the future.
The old item can be an old antique necklace, a sentimental brooch or hair pin, something that represents the past.
Something new represents optimism for the future and the new life the bride will share with her groom.
The new item can be a special piece of custom made wedding jewellery such as a bespoke necklace, bracelet or earrings, something made new and especially for you.
Something borrowed represents borrowed happiness.
Some brides will borrow an item from a long-time happily married couple or equally it can be something borrowed from a close friend or relative who is symbolic of happiness.
The borrowed item can be a bridal hair accessory such as a tiara, bridal headdress, bridal hair comb or hair pin, something worn by the lender on their wedding day will envelop extra special significance.
Something blue represents love, good fortune and fidelity.
There is a lot of flexibility with this because blue comes in many different shades and some brides might want to add a lot and others just a little so it's not too visible.
There is no right or wrong way to add something blue to a wedding and it can be seen or it can be hidden.
The something blue item can be a bespoke piece of wedding jewellery or bridal hair accessory which is custom made with an element of blue.
Many crystal bridal accessories are made with Swarovski crystals and these can be adapted and changed to suit bride's specific needs.
Some brides might add a touch of light sapphire or aquamarine blue to a crystal bridal necklace, crystal bridal bracelet or a crystal wedding tiara for a unique twist to a classic bridal look.
