How to Find a Vet That Performs Ear Ablations
- 1). Ask your dog's regular vet first when you need to find a vet who does ear ablations. Your vet may do the operation herself, or she may be able to recommend another vet in the same practice who does it. She may also know of other vets in your area who will perform the surgery if no one in her practice performs them.
- 2). Call other local vets, particularly those that advertise as being part of an animal hospital or a specialty referral service. It is likely that animal hospitals and referral services will have vets on staff that perform ear ablations. If no one in your area does the procedure, ask the referral services for recommendations at veterinary schools or other facilities in your region or neighboring states.
- 3). Contact your state university's veterinary training school. Many state universities, including the University of North Carolina, Ohio State University Vet School and the School of Veterinary Medicine, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge all have vets on staff who do ear ablations. Because of the wide range of veterinary medicine taught at state vet schools, most of them will have at least one ear expert on the faculty.
