How to Use MS Paint in the Classroom
- 1). Gather all students in the classroom around one computer screen.
- 2). To open MS Paint, click on the "Start" icon, then navigate to "All Programs" and select "MS Paint."
- 3). Demonstrate how the program can be used to create art. Click on either the pencil, airbrush or paintbrush tool from the menu to the left, and select a color from the palette. Using your mouse, click and drag the color from the palette to the canvas. Experiment with different textures and patterns. Then draw the image of an object selected from the classroom.
- 4). Seat the students at individual classroom computers. If there are not enough computers for each student, have students share a computer, and take turns.
- 5). Instruct each student to create one abstract piece of art, and one realistic piece. The abstract piece should feature colors and patterns that cover the entire page. The realistic piece should be created using a classroom object, such as a plant or book, as reference.
- 6). Print out each art piece, once students are finished. Have them tape them up around the room, displaying them in an art gallery style. The students will get an idea of the similarities between digital and traditional art, and how they both can be used to express the same ideas.
