How to Check Solenoid on Anti-Siphon Valve
- 1). Combine the three 9-volt batteries by attaching one battery to each of the terminals on the third battery. This will create a triangle shaped set of the batteries, with both one positive and one negative terminal exposed on separate batteries.
- 2). Cut both of the valve's solenoid wires, 3 inches from the solenoid, using the wire strippers. Use the gauge on the side of the strippers to determine the proper slot for the wires; strip away 1/2 inch of insulation from the wires leading to the solenoid.
- 3). Touch one of the exposed wires to the positive terminal of the battery set, and another wire to the negative terminal at the same time. If this causes the solenoid to hum, click, or buzz; the solenoid is operating properly.
- 4). Strip 1/2 of insulation from the other ends of the solenoid wires; twist the opposing wires to each other, reconnecting the original wire sets to the solenoid. Secure these connections by twisting one wire nut onto each of the two connections.
