How to Find a Person in a Hospital

104 28
    • 1). Gather as much information as you can about the person that you are looking for. Without an accurate first and last name, most hospitals will not give out any patient information.

    • 2). Call the hospital where your loved one is located and ask for patient information. If you are not sure which hospital they are staying at call the hospital closest to their home first and then the next closest one, and so on.

    • 3). Speak with the representative on the phone and give the patient's first and last name. Be prepared as they may ask you to spell the name. Knowing more about the person, such as their date of birth, home address and telephone number, can help if the name is incorrect.

    • 4). Write down the room number, which floor they are located on and any other information that you are given. Ask for directions to the hospital if you are unclear as to how to get there.

    • 5). Get to the hospital quickly but safely and park in visitor parking if driving. Enter through the main entrance as this is usually where hospital employees are located to assist guests and visitors. Ask for directions to the patient's room number or patient floor.

    • 6). Follow the directions to the patient's room. Stop an employee or ask at the nurses' station if you have trouble locating the patient.
