LDS Art - Where One Might Be Able See Many Original Paintings

103 47
I have always been interested in LDS art.
When I was just home from my mission, I was at the Provo Temple with my Grandmother.
We went down stairs where they have the cafeteria, and on the wall was a renaissance painting of the Savior.
This painting was quite large.
My grandmother once spoke to one of the temple workers who told her the price of the painting.
My grandmother told me the painting was worth more money than she had ever seen, but she could not remember the exact amount.
In the Provo temple they have a large piece of art of the Savior at the well, it was part sculpture part painting, that was originally designed by a Norwegian member of the church and was part of an old meeting house in Utah.
When the chapel was torn down the church historical department carefully moved it and placed it in the Provo temple.
It got me thinking about LDS art.
The Mormon church has so many paintings and so much artwork donated to the church.
Though I can't prove I believe that the church must place much of the original artwork and paintings in the temples to preserve the art.
What better place to preserve the art than in the temples? Each temple is very secure and heavily guarded and well kept.
The only people who are allowed to enter into the temples of LDS church are members who meet certain requirements.
When I went to the conference center in Salt Lake City, I saw the Book of Mormon paintings of Arnold Friberg all throughout one corner of the building, and I believe they were the originals.
The Mormon church has many buildings such as temples, meeting houses, tabernacles, temples and other buildings where gatherings are held.
Since these building are so well taken care of so is the artwork.
