Major Colorado Airports
- Colorado Springs Airport, a 280,000-square-foot facility located near Interstate 25 in Colorado, opened in 1994 and now serves over two million passengers each year. The airport provides non-stop flights to 11 cities in the U.S. and averages 106 arrivals and departures through the eight airlines that serve it. Colorado Springs Airport is located about 25 minutes from downtown Colorado Springs and 70 minutes from Denver. The facility boasts three levels and 16 terminals, and is within driving distance of 14 major ski parks.
- Centennial Airport, located 13 miles from downtown Denver in the center of the Denver Tech Center, opened its doors in 1967. Overtime, the airport has experienced steady growth to become the third busiest General Aviation airport and among the top 25 busiest airports of all types. On top of being an international airport with 24-hour U.S. Customs, Centennial Airport also provides support for flying clubs and schools, air charter services and aircraft maintenance services. The facility operates with three runways ranging from 4,800 to 10,000 feet long and houses a 24-hour Federal Aviation Administration control tower. The airport has also recently become certified by the National Air Transportation Compliance Services to offer fingerprinting services. One important fact about Centennial Airport is that it offers charter flights only; it does not provide passenger carrier flights. The Centennial Airport website refers visitors to Denver International Airport for passenger flights.
- Located 23 miles northeast of downtown Denver, Denver International Airport opened its doors in 1995 and is the only major American airport to be built in the last 25 years. Built on 34,000 acres and equipped with six runways, the facility can accommodate up to 50 million passengers a year. The airport prides itself on being one of the greenest airports in America, operating the largest solar farm at a public airport in the United States. Denver International Airport currently contributes $22 billion to Colorado's economy.
- Grand Junction Regional Airport is Western Colorado's largest commercial airport. The great weather, friendly people and easy accessibility make Grand Junction Regional the primary airport between Salt Lake City and Denver. Airlines serving Grand Junction include Delta, US Airways, United Airlines, American Airlines and Allegiant. Grand Junction Regional Airport also provides charter service through Denver Air Connection and Colorado Flight Center. The airport offers nonstop service to Denver, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Dallas as of May 2011.
