Homemade Play Dough Using Kool-Aid
- 1 cup flour
1/4 cup salt
2 Tbsp. cream of tartar
1-2 envelope unsweetened Kool-Aid
1 cup water
1 Tbsp. vegetable oil - Stir together the flour, salt, cream of tartar, Kool-Aid and water in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the oil and continue stirring for 3-5 minutes. Scrape the sides of the pan while stirring and form a ball of dough in the center of the pan. Deposit the ball of dough into a glass or ceramic bowl and allow it to cool. Knead the dough until it becomes becomes soft.
- Keep each color of play-dough in a separate container and store for up to two months. Use zippered plastic storage bags or sealed plastic tubs. Reseal the play-dough container after every use to prevent drying.
- Use two envelopes of Kool-Aid to achieve a more intense color and scent.
Add one to two drops of yellow food coloring to "lemonade" and other yellow play-doughs for an extra color boost.
Exercise extra caution when kneading the dough. Make sure the ball of dough is cooled throughout before handling.
