How to Remove Ceramic Tile Flooring & Cost
- 1). Put on a pair of safety glasses and begin removing the grout from the tile using a dremel with a grout attachment. Use the attachment that is the same width as the seams in the tile. Work carefully around the tiles to avoid damaging them.
- 2). Remove the tiles from the bed of mortar by inserting a metal scraper at a 45 degree angle where the tile meets the mortar. Tap the handle of the scraper lightly with a hammer while gradually working your way around the tile. Start from an edge tile and work your way into the rest of the floor.
- 3). Chip away the remaining mortar with a hammer and chisel where needed.
- 4). Clean up the broken up mortar with a broom and dust pan. Sweep the remaining dust off the sub floor using a vacuum cleaner.
