Facts About Goldendoodles
- While first-generation Goldendoodles, known as F1, have either distinctively curly Poodle coats or soft and straight Golden Retriever coats, usually their look is somewhere in between. A subset of first-generation Goldendoodles, known as F1B, is a cross between a Goldendoodle and Poodle and have more Poodle characteristics. Male F1 Goldendoodles grow to be about 55-75 pounds, while females are around 40-55 pounds. Male F1B Goldendoodles reach about 45-65 pounds, while females are around 30-45.
- Goldendoodles are happy and playful dogs, possessing the personality of the passive Golden Retriever. They are usually very satisfied and sociable, with a fierce love and loyalty to their owners. They can easily become mischievous if left alone for too long but are very bright dogs who are eager to please and learn, making them highly trainable.
- Goldendoodles require very little maintenance and only need to have their coat brushed every few weeks. Some owners decide to keep the hair short, but if they do not their hair can grow to be anywhere from 4-7 inches long. Goldendoodles with short hair only need a full grooming a few times a year.
- Goldendoodles are highly adaptable dogs who do well in both the city and the country. They require only moderate exercise and very few health problems are anticipated. Due to being a hybrid breed, they are expected to live longer than their parents who live anywhere from 10-15 years.
